@mothershipsg: Speaking at the UN General Assembly in New York on Sep. 23, Iranian president Masoud Pezeshkian called out what he saw as “double standards” when it came to the issue of nuclear weapons. Since the start of the war between the U.S. and Israel on Iran, President Donald Trump has repeatedly affirmed his stance that Iran must not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons. He made the remarks again during the UN General Assembly on Sep. 22. However, Pezeshkian alleged that the Israelis possessed nuclear weapons themselves, and have killed innocents in Gaza and Iran, but were not subject to inspections and sanctions. He also pointed out that Israel was not a signatory of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, while Iran is one. Pezeshkian also claimed that Iran pursued “peaceful nuclear technology” for progress in areas like agriculture and energy supply.
