@chekmedia: An out-of-control wildfire burning near Sooke grew significantly on Tuesday, doubling in size from 50 hectares Tuesday morning to more than 100 hectares by the afternoon. By Wednesday morning, Sept. 23, it measured about 116 hectares. The Mount Jack Wildfire is located about 12.5 kilometres north of Sooke, and the BC Wildfire Service says there's no risk to public safety or critical infrastructure. “It is producing a lot of smoke. It’s quite visible, and it will remain visible in these next couple days of still warm and dry conditions,” said Erika Berg, a fire information officer with the Coastal Fire Centre.
