Lane should have left Stars Hollow, moved in with Rory and Paris, and really pursued her music career. Another video I saw had a head-canon that Lane did that, joined an all girl band, and fallen in love with one of her band mates. The girl she falls for is also Korean, so Mrs. Kim is beginning to come around.

I personally think if Lane didn’t end up with Dave, she shouldn’t have dated another band member. I think it was overplayed and I think maybe if she dated like a club manager or someone just in the music industry in a different way it would’ve been really interesting or even just like a music teacher or someone who fixed in instruments for a living. I also think they could’ve recasted, Dave. I know it would’ve been awkward and hard to do but I think that would’ve been the best way to solve the issue instead of just shoehorning someone else in that spot that’s a significantly worse version of Dave. I think she also just could have been single since she was so young. I think it would have been cool if she became a music teacher herself if they wanted to keep her is Stars hallow or open a music store or even an event space to play. If she open a store or an event space maybe she could have done it with her mom and they could have learned to balance and bond over it. Honestly if she went on tour or moved for her music it could have been a great spin off.

I would've been able to forgive Season 7 if AYITL had shown that Lane was also coming back to Stars Hollow for the first time in years after a long and successful rock tour, like considering she had very little screen time, why not give her that??
