Oversized jerseys, baggy jeans, bandanas, fitted caps, Sean John, FUBU, Rocawear—and sunglasses absolutely did not require sunlight. 📱 Your Nokia was indestructible, texting required pressing the same button four times to get one letter, and having a custom ringtone basically made you a software engineer. 💻 AOL was screaming at you through the phone line, AIM away messages contained deeply personal information nobody asked for, Napster was terrorizing the music industry, and Google was still something your parents had probably never heard of. 📺 106 & Park had premiered September 11 with AJ and Free. BET’s ComicView was required viewing. And if your house had BET, there was a very good chance this channel stayed on for HOURS. 🎬 The Original Kings of Comedy had just dropped, and Remember the Titans was about to convince America that inspirational football movies needed approximately 47 Motown songs. 🎮 We were playing PlayStation, Nintendo 64 and Dreamcast like everything was perfectly fine. 💿 And if you liked a song on this countdown, you couldn’t just add it to Spotify.
