@earthpix: This abandoned island looks like a city frozen in time. Hashima Island, also known as Gunkanjima or Battleship Island, sits off the coast of Nagasaki, Japan. Once home to more than 5,000 people, the island was abandoned in 1974 after its coal mine closed. Today, its empty apartment blocks, schools, and mining structures still stand surrounded by the sea. And yes, you can still visit. Boat tours take visitors to the island, although landing depends on weather and sea conditions. By: @espinas3
