@momma.cooking: Sticky Garlic Honey BBQ Beef Short Ribs Ingredients 1. Beef short ribs – 4 lb 2. Olive oil – 2 tbsp 3. Salt – 2 tsp 4. Black pepper – 1 tsp 5. Smoked paprika – 2 tsp 6. Garlic powder – 1 1/2 tsp 7. Onion powder – 1 tsp 8. Brown sugar – 1/3 cup 9. Honey – 1/4 cup 10. BBQ sauce – 1 cup 11. Soy sauce – 3 tbsp 12. Worcestershire sauce – 2 tbsp 13. Garlic – 6 cloves, minced 14. Beef broth – 1 1/2 cups 15. Apple cider vinegar – 1 tbsp 16. Dried thyme – 1 tsp 17. Fresh parsley – 2 tbsp, chopped 18. Red pepper flakes – 1/2 tsp Recipe 1. Pat the beef short ribs thoroughly dry with paper towels. Trim away only excessive surface fat while leaving enough marbling to keep the ribs rich and tender. 2. In a bowl, combine the salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and dried thyme. Rub the seasoning mixture generously over every side of the short ribs. 3. Heat the olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet or heavy roasting pan over medium-high heat. Sear the short ribs in batches for 3 to 4 minutes per side until deeply browned. 4. Transfer the browned ribs to a plate and reduce the heat to medium. Add the minced garlic to the same pan and cook for about 30 seconds, stirring constantly until fragrant. 5. Add the beef broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, and red pepper flakes to the pan. Whisk thoroughly while scraping the browned bits from the bottom. 6. Stir in 1/2 cup of the BBQ sauce and 2 tablespoons of the honey. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer for 2 to 3 minutes until the brown sugar dissolves and the mixture becomes glossy. 7. Return the short ribs to the pan with the meaty sides facing upward. Spoon some of the sauce over the tops so the beef is coated before baking. 8. Cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil and place it in a preheated 325°F oven. Cook for 2 1/2 to 3 hours, or until the ribs are extremely tender and the meat nearly pulls away from the bones. 9. Carefully remove the foil and transfer the ribs to a lined baking sheet. Reserve the cooking liquid from the pan. 10. Strain the cooking liquid into a saucepan and simmer over medium-high heat for 8 to 12 minutes until it reduces into a thicker, concentrated sauce. 11. Stir the remaining 1/2 cup BBQ sauce and remaining honey into the reduced sauce. Simmer for another 2 to 3 minutes until thick, glossy, and sticky. 12. Brush the thickened BBQ glaze generously over every short rib, coating the browned surfaces and allowing the sauce to settle into the meat. 13. Return the glazed ribs to a 425°F oven and bake uncovered for 8 to 10 minutes until the glaze caramelizes and becomes shiny and deeply browned. 14. Remove the ribs from the oven and brush them once more with the warm garlic BBQ glaze. Sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley for a bright finishing touch. 15. Serve the short ribs hot with the remaining glaze spooned over the top, alongside mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, cornbread, or creamy coleslaw.
