@whatsgoingonireland: No change to child benefit €140 per child per month but they want to integrate a second tier for those most in need #ClaireClarkson #whatsgoingonireland #childbenefit #budget #costofliving
two tier would suit the whole country. however its the cut off point that would be the problem would they penalise working families that might be a couple euro over the limit

And youll be only considered for the higher amount if your on a government payment meaning the people who work their ass off and fall just above the government payment threshold will miss out and continue to struggle

This will cause an even bigger divide between Irish people. Don’t agree with this at all. I think all children/parents should get an increase. Everybody is starting to struggle. Nurses, doctors, teachers…. Everyone

No, Child Benefit has always been a set amount regardless of what you earn, and I think that’s exactly how it should stay. It’s one payment that treats every family equally, and every child is equally deserving of it. Families need that support regardless of their income, and it shouldn’t become another payment that’s means-tested or reduced based on what someone earns.
That said, the amount definitely needs to be increased. The cost of raising children has gone up hugely, and Child Benefit should reflect that. Keep it equal for everyone, but increase the amount so that it actually provides meaningful support to families.

So, those who work harder and do longer hours to be able to earn more-hence need a minder for more hours a week are getting no support yet again!? 😂 no seriously at this point we should just all get fired go on social and live our best lives 😂

No to tier system. just raise the benefit across the board. Parent's working are getting screwed. and its just rewarding people not working and getting all the benefits. The money is there to help the cost of raising a child, not fair to give some people more than others.

How ridiculous, a two tier system. Children costs are the same to all parents regardless of earnings.

I don't think it should be different for any child it takes that and alot more for anyone with a child and if the parents that are working they have to pay tax so I don't think it's fare on the child

2 tiers is a ridiculous plan. Increase base for all. Those on the bottom are already getting social housing, HAP, fuel allowance, medical cards, Christmas bonus and every other possible benefit in the system. The middle income that qualify for nothing need more help.
