@darion799: When the patient's family member suddenly starts using medical terminology a little too well... There is always that moment where you realize someone in the room either works in healthcare, has spent way too much time researching, or has been through enough medical visits to pick up the language. And that can actually be a good thing. Patients and families who understand the terminology often ask better questions, catch important details, and make it easier to have a more specific conversation. The goal should not be to make people feel intimidated by medicine. It should be to make sure everyone understands what is happening and why. But you can absolutely tell when the vocabulary shifts and the whole conversation changes. #PatientAdvocacy #chronicpain #chronicillness #audhd #cancer
Drs just laugh at you when you do this because they can't handle a patient who has actually done research and they know they're about to get hit with tons of legit questions and the patient can't just be brushed off 😁

This is SO true 🙌🏼 Why it’s so important to bring someone to your appointments too. Sometimes the stress and anxiety we feel before, during, and after an appointment can make it difficult to be fully present in the moment. It helps to have an extra brain to think of questions and remember details.

that usually develops from medical neglect and or chronic issues! it's not a good thing unless they are going to school for it. the medical system causes medical PTSD and we are lucky to get a doctor that will listen to us without using the same language as other doctors.

Fr I know som medical terminology I took medical terminology in highschool and I'm taking medical terminology right now for an associates degree in medical billing reimbursement and coding. I also read my medical records and reports after every visit and or er visit or scan. I've had a liver transplant and the 3 years prior were crazy in medical terms. just tell me or write it down lol. I'll figure it out. ( I have a processing disorder also that doesn't help)
