one day during a night shift I was assisting 2 other nurses change a patient. Really loose stool, that went all the way to the front. This poor lady farted and it also went up to the front too (ladies, you know what I mean), and it started bubbling up. One of my coworkers got startled, screamed and jumped back. I could not contain myself and had to leave the room to laugh. I laughed non-stop for a good 20 minutes. I felt really bad for the patient, but it was my 3rd night in a row.

Ours was a bariatric patient who we are unable to discharge because the council ha ld to rebuild their front entrance due to the ambulance stretcher not being able to get in. Patient was with us for more than 4 months. Anyway during pad change- patient was on their side facing me. And my colleague was cracking up- I’m only 5ft. She said it was like I was hanging to the edge of the cliff and in the end she could only see my fingers hanging on. A simple pad change took ages because she kept laughing

the CT tech was irritating the drunk guy on our table and i put my hand on his shoulder and ducked my head down to laugh while the drunk guy who came in for a possible stroke (it wasn’t) yelled about a sandwich and cigarette. and every time the ED doc asked how much the guy drank his response was “NOT ENOUGH! SANDWICH! CIGARETTE”

My friend and I were changing a patient near the end of the shift, they rolled onto their side and said “hold on” and then pooped an XXL amount straight into her hands 😭 we were wearing masks and once I made eye contact with her I had to go to the other end of the room and pretended I was cleaning up because if I spoke I would laugh 😭😭

I once laughed at an old man for farting for 5 mins straight while me and his wife were turning him. She was mad at me for laughing and so was the patient lol 🤣 but I just couldn’t keep myself together. I also was a nursing student at the time 🤣

You better remain professional at bedside-you are taking care of people in their most vulnerable times of life. If you want to giggle together in the break room about something fine-never show your cards to the patient however.

I had a partner make an obvious double entendre about their partner thinking they were being slick. I stepped out of the cubicle and I heard the patient telling them off and their partner said "she wouldn't get it anyway" I walked back in and looked them straight in the and said "I am a nurse not a nun" then carried on with the exame. The partner looked like they wanted the floor to swallow them 😂
