That's something I find really interesting about South Park. They've always been oddly good at being inclusive. Anything, and everything can be the butt of a joke in South Park, but when it comes to minorities, they're quite smart about how they do it.

i actually had a conversation with someone with tourette’s about this episode. they said they found it frustrating because it really only portrayed coprolalia. they wish it had included more representation for people with tourette’s that doesn’t include saying slurs/curse words. i do still love this episode tho, but i figured i’d share that as well

they always appear to just be making fun of certain groups at first glance but when you really pay attention it’s usually pretty apparent that they actually did a good amount of research to portray them accurately between all the jokes they make

South Park is the definition of jesters privilege. it will insult anyone at any time and it isnt hated by most people because of the fact that its built a reputation of being obnoxious and poking fun at everything for fun so nobody takes the mockery portion seriously

The problem is have with this episode is that people in my life who learn i have tourettes, either through seeing or hearing my tics, instantly compare me to Cartman. The lesson went over their heads, they just remember his shenanigans being able so say whatever f'ed up stuff he wants. A genuinely good episode, they just had to much faith in people. Magically giving Cartman compulsions to say messed up stuff he doesnt want to say was a good idea for the story, but, media literacy is dead. So.

yeah this is something i really like about south park as well, yes they critique and make fun of many things, but unlike other pieces of media, they’re actually very educated on the topics they portray
