That’s interesting. So you should probably go pretty low on weight to ensure you don’t suddenly hit failure.

When you're talking about fast twitch fibers, yes. Training to failure remains to be elite for hypertrophy tho.

Y’all aren’t listening he’s talking about athletes being faster, fast twitch muscle movements not when it comes to building muscle and putting on insane amounts of mass, that’s a different story he’s talking about optimal muscle movement for athletes, not bodybuilder mass growing

You can’t just take away muscle fibres and training to failure actively helps grow type 2 muscle fibres HOWEVER training to failure slows down the rate that they fire at and can slow speed and explosiveness but it isn’t permanent

i usually train to failure, i get good sleep and my diet is great, and i still feel fatigued, i do push pull legs and i lift 6 times a week with one rest day, and ive trained till failure for months and i also did progressive overload and i didn’t go up in strength that much at all

I have a happy medium. Why doesn’t everyone train to failure one day of the week, and than subtract reps until they notice a plateau than add them back, rir logic applied tyvm

brother. i work a labor job. going to failure has had ZERO effect on my ability to work quickly and efficiently.

You can’t measure how many reps you really have in the tank that’s study is most likely on newer lifter or lifters who’s been trail less then 3 years

Reps and frequency would play a big role in this adaption of fiber transition

idk where you're getting this from and I need to do more research but there's a difference between fatigue and reahjing mechanical failure, that's why rest days are efficient, obviously if you're fatiguing yourself with no rest days it's detrimental, but going to failure recruits more type 2 fibres and stimulates them when you train or practice in sports you practice ot train to failure, no world class athlete runs till mild discomfort they exercise to failure, you're either missing context of the research or teh research isn't fully developed yet.

If under 5 reps I don’t think this applies the same tbh

depends on what sport, wrestlers and MMa fighters benefit from the neurological adaptations that failure gives, I looked at the first study and it only applies to explosive sports and even then if you detrain the muscles go back and you retain the extra hypertrophy from 0 RIR

I'd actually do it based on bar speed. For hypertrophy it's ok to have grinders. For athletes, once that bar starts slowing down end the set. Hypertrophy is a happy side effect for sports strength training anyways, not the goal. Force and power production are the goals.

I doubt this. are u sure the studies didn't Include the fatigue from training to failure? I train to failure and I'm quite fast.

when ever you put on muscle even if you have type iix fibers they slowly change over time to type iia so you can produce high force and do it for a longer period of time since iix fibers gas out extremely quickly

Just do it once or twice a week depending on the sport like if it’s football and your running just run until you can’t to build stamina but still sprint and do polymeric and don’t do it when you have practice the next day
