Claudia Prettypea has stolen everyone’s hearts the second we posted her. ❤️ We pulled this sweet little girl from the shelter on September 9th, and our entire team is completely obsessed with her. She is so cute, sweet, and has the gentlest little demeanor. It’s hard to look at her and not fall completely in love. Sadly, Claudia is also another victim of greeding. She is still at our vet while we work through her medical and try to understand exactly what is going on with her little body. So far, we’ve found quite a few congenital abnormalities, and unfortunately, many of them aren’t things we can simply fix with a surgery or procedure. So instead of trying to “fix” everything, we’re looking at how we can give Claudia the best quality of life possible by supporting her body with the things we can control, like medication, supplements, a healthy diet, monitoring and lots of love. So far, Claudia has been diagnosed with or is being evaluated for: -Brachycephalic Airway Syndrome - Scoliosis - Crepitus in her pelvis - Cardiomegaly (enlarged heart) - Prominent skull / possible hydrocephalus - Weak hind end - Elevated trachea She’ll be seeing a cardiologist to get a better understanding of what’s happening with her heart, followed by a neurologist to determine whether she truly has hydrocephalus. Those appointments will help us answer some very important questions and figure out what Claudia’s future care needs to look like. Cases like Claudia’s are a long term commitment and we have no way of predicting what is to come with cost and treatment. They take time, patience, specialized care and, unfortunately, a lot of financial support. But she is worth it. ❤️ We’re going to keep showing up for this ridiculously sweet little girl and figure this out one step at a time.
