the first documentary about Gloriavale is on Prime Video and its from 2012. its one of my all time favorite documentaries. its so lighthearted and seems like a recruitment video. I watch it a few times a year. the new one on Paramount is good because it follows up with people from the previous doc, and it tells you the dark side of the cult.

Sounds amazing and I will be watching, thanks. but please never say that a documentary doesnt “insert” their opinion haha like of course they do (and it’s not a bad thing), literally your cited a great example. They dont tell you HEY THIS IS WRONG but storystelling does! What they choose to include and leave out do. And that’s great!

i worked with a lady who accidently spent 1 day in gloriavale! she said they were friendly but she got strange vibes. she didnt realise it was a cult at the time.....it was like 30 years ago or something
