Tenure in the US public school system means that a teacher cannot be fired without a fair, formal hearing and documented evidence of poor job performance or misconduct. Basically your contract will renew forever until you retire or quit unless you really screw up. 👍

In some states they literally cannot fire a teacher for committing crimes, unless the union agrees to it, and they never do, so they transfer you to a "school" with no students, until you just quit.

tenure is like saying the company recognizes your talent and essentially have a permit job. You can still get fired but it's really hard once you got it.

I tell my students all the time- I’m a 28 year tenured teacher, I’d basically have to kill someone to get fired. They giggle.
