This is my son! He is only 6 and we are in the United Kingdom but public schools and the government prioritise supporting high support needs kids. Just because my son has a high IQ he can’t get the support he really deserves 😔

Also, “support needs” does not always mean “needs SOMEONE to help them with something.” Support can look like being allowed to have a lamp in your office or a standing desk.

My best friend is autistic but never tells me his struggles or won’t admit when he needs support or dismisses me when I ask him if he needs anything. How do I reach him to support?

We are autistic enough and those of us who have other disabilities as well, can become tired and wonder how we get through the day.

The levels are idiotic and should be scrapped. Whether you are 1, 2, or 3 you can still need a LOT of support. Calling people high functioning and needing a low amount of support while they lead the chart in self-unalivings is malpractice plain and simple. 😳
