@neurodivergenttherapist: There’s a pattern I keep seeing. Across 14 years of teen therapy hundreds of adult assessments over and over again. This video walks through it twice once on the surface once underneath. it won’t match everyone perfectly the years shift, the intensity shifts, but the pattern it shows up enough to be worth talking about. I know it’s true because it’s my story too. There’s something that happens when you finally see your own timeline laid out in front of you relief and grief, arriving at the same time the strange comfort of finally having a name for something you’ve been carrying your whole life. if this lands for you tell me below. if you’re a therapist, she wants to go deeper. This is exactly why I started @neuropebble check it out. #neurodivergenttherapist #neurodiversity #latediagnosed #neurodiversityforteengirls #autism

Danielle🌟AuDHD Parenting :
my question always is - Is this preventable? with early diagnosis and finding ways to regulate and belong without intense masking? that's what I want to help parents with!

Yup. 41 and just learned I was autistic, have ADHD, and have cptsd. It took 9 attempts and 2 inpatient and outpatient runs to get it figured out and even then I had to hunt down a way to get assessed

I tried everything to help my teen with her anxiety and depression. She did turn to sh and substances to cope. Trip to rehab. Therapist after therapist. It’s been four years of pretty intense treatment the whole time. Iop, Php. Recently … she asked me if she could have a neuropsych assessment. Level one autism. I wish it had been found sooner. No one ever suggested it. I missed signs. She’s 2e and been in college since age 13. I finally feel like we’re on the right path now and getting the help and supports that will actually make a difference in her life. Identifying neurodivergence in girls has much room for improvement. I’m really glad you’re out here helping!

This is so amazing!! THANK YOU for creating this and bringing awareness! Another thing I love talking about is how unidentified autistic burnout (or neurodiverse burnout) can lead to a depressive episode that could have been “avoided” if the autistic burnout was noticed and worked through

Yup all of this. I have been fighting for help and interventions for my kid since she was little. I finally got her on meds at 11. It’s been so hard.

Yep, started between 3rd and 4th, my 3rd grade teacher told my mom I was ADHD, but didn’t get diag until 27. At 38 I felt like AuDHD is more likely.

I was always very literal and though sh always meant c*tting but it never occurred to me that sf was also hitting, biting, picking skin, pulling hair when upset/frustrated etc so many women have had sh meltdowns and had no idea

This has been my teen’s experience. They have had supportive therapists and medication has helped as well as maturity but they still struggle. We have a good relationship and we aren’t pressuring but we’re not sure what is the best way to help.

this is almost identical for me except my time line may be slightly more clumped together towards 11th grade because we moved so I feel like it accelerated everything because I was trying so hard to mask and control everything my OCD got super out of hand

Hey could I please give some constructive criticism, if you made the chart and said age instead of grades people outside of the US could also follow 🙂❤️

My kid already went through a lot of this but she’s been diagnosed since 3rd grade. It’s way harder for girls dealing with teachers who aren’t trained and don’t care to understand neurodivergent learners.

Jokes on you, I never got treatment/therapy in my teens for self-harm/anxiety/neurodivergence. Mom just told me to figure my shit out. With that said, this is amazing to keep an eye on my own neurodivergent kids (7th grade son, 5th grade daughter)
