I was JUST talking with my husband last night about this: I am first in my matrilineal line to be able to choose if, or when, I have children, and I chose not to have any. What an amazing moment this would be to them! To CHOOSE every aspect of parenthood! (RIP RoeVWade 😭)

We were literally raised to not have kids. We were told to not be poor, not to be our parents and not to have kids if you cant do that. why are so many countries surprised their movement to reduce children actually worked?

Most of these people also wouldn’t support governmental policies that would ACTUALLY incentivise people to have more kids. Like universal healthcare in the US, better maternity and paternity leave, better unemployment benefits, rent controls, free/subsidised childcare etc.

and all of this pronatalism is causing a lot of young people to go the opposite way and become antinatalist. As someone who chose to have children, its completely confusing when half of the content you see is right wing trad wife's pushing people to have a lot of kids and are generallyhorrid people, and then progressive people who I otherwise align with politically (and wont stop being on the right side of history with) now see people like me as selfish for choosing to have kids. We're a very polarized nation right now.
