My daughter is hybrid and homeschooled for core curriculum and all her peers are so impressed with her cursive and craft skills 😭

FYI she is 3. This is possible just 10 or 15 min a day. It all adds up. 🫶🫶

This is terrifying. I’m a manager at a grocery store and yes corporate sucks on another level (lack of paying decent wage, lack of good managers, lack of training) but I’m having to teach 18-35 year olds how to speak, basic manners, handwriting, etc. I feel like a whole generation of parents got together and said “we don’t have to teach them that, it’s common sense!” Gentle parenting is not submissive parenting.

Pease get rid of the chromebooks and give them paper and pencil in school. We formed letters and numbers well, we wrote well, we spelled well because we were writing for a large chunk of our day. We stopped doing all online work in our homeschool last year and we’ve seen a huge improvement in everything.

My 4th grader has to read 1 chapter a day and write a 3 sentence summary after each chapter. Everyday, just for fun. I’ve seen big improvements.

It’s funny, I work with 3rd graders at my church, they can’t write, but the attitude I get is that if a moody teen. Maybe our parents were right, it’s those dang phones

My kid knew how to cut with scissors and knew how to semi write before kindergarten. I thought it was a requirement so they knew that stuff lol

Screens don’t belong in elementary school at all and I’ll die on that hill. My boomer parents taught me zero about how to write or cut, yet I still learned how. I’m not saying it’s okay for parents to tap out but these are things that should be taught to proficiency in school.

GET RID OF CHROME BOOKS PLEASE. The chrome books are the problem, everything is on the chrome book. Even math!! They never have to write anything anymore, but yet don’t even make them take a typing class. The system is so broken. TEACHERS YOU ARE APPRECIATED! 🩷

I just feel like 7-8 hours a day is plenty of time to teach them these things. Otherwise what are you even doing all day? This is why I homeschool.

Okay but teachers used to teach us how to write. In a class full of 25. So it’s lowkey yall responsibility. I had immigrant parents. I learned AT SCHOOL.

This isn’t hitting quite how I think you intended. Perhaps in house conversations on this…. That’s why they are in school. To learn those BASICS specifically.
