Many people pleasers fear rejection and abandonment and therefore act the way they do as to be accepted and loved. I do not think this is the same coin as narcissism at all. However, people pleasers who do it to look good, basically for their ego, could be on the same coin as narcissists.

Both actually stem from a feeling of worthlessness, but while people pleasers try to establish their sense of worth by pleasing others, giving up their opinions and sometimes even parts of their identities, narcissists try to cover up their feelings of worthlessness with an excessive ego, achieving that by looking down on people who might possess the love they themselves may not receive. If the people pleaser is the slave, the narcissist is God. But the truth is that both of them are only human
