So basically Greed and lack of effort basically make cartoons have a decline

They took away the 2d animation and the quality went right along with it

There’s a reason why early seasons of SpongeBob have the most memes and quotable lines. It was actually good. It was goofy yes, but it was goofy with substance. That’s something Ceo’s and suits will never understand

this just made me realise why there's a million baby-fied versions of classic character and no options for teens

Can you do this analysis on “adult animation” ? 👀👀I like how you think.

These big cartoon companies need to take a lesson from the indie animation studios that are leading the way. Kids don't want cookie cutter drama or quick paced laughs. I thinks its why many are choosing adult indie animation. Its different, dramatic, deals with real issues that require thought

It’s so heartbreaking. My life long dream was to make my own kids cartoon like all of these. But I fear my chance to do so has long since past. I’m pursuing it now as a webcomic, but actually reaching kids is impossible. So this is probably gonna have to be aimed more at teens and young adults than I originally wanted.

you start off with the problem. age groups. shows today are trying to appeal to EVERYONE, but that takes real talent and no one is willing to spend for that.

Oh I’m weird, I never stopped watching cartoons and became a animation nerd. Yea, I watched drake and Josh and iCarly but I kept coming back to animation. But I couldn’t get into animation after 2013ish because it felt “empty”. So I got into anime and adult animated cartoons instead

It makes me sad they can just stream everything. I watched so many shows I wouldn’t have normally watched just because that was the only thing on at the time

To this day, I'm thankful CN allowed Samurai Jack to be revived years later to give it proper closure for adults. I feel like cartoons have always been aimed at adults even in the 1920s and onwards.

I hate modern day cartoons because they are brain rot for my kids. I put on the old school cartoons. There's even studies to suggest the old cartoons are calmer as new cartoons are designed to be addictive. I'm typing this as my kids 6 & 3 are currently watching the rugrats film 😅

even at high school age, I'd rather watch cartoons than live action Disney shows, but I've loved animation since I was little so. plus SpongeBob is still funny

Which is crazy considering that the cartoons of the 80’s were largely made simply to sell toys.
