I will never forget the day my adult son came to me after spending the day with my mother, and he gave me the biggest hug and said, “thank you for becoming the mother you never had.” I pretty much did the exact opposite as she did.

Having my one daughter, brought up my own wounds as a child. Terrified for my daughter. If men did not try so hard to control our world, women wouldn’t be so hesitant to have children. We don’t want our daughters to go through what we did as girls.♥️Now my daughter has her own daughter and I’m terrified for my granddaughter.

as someone who has kids, I absolutely respect those who choose not to -- I love being a mom, but it's a life choice like any other and should 100% be exactly that, a CHOICE.

Very valid and valuable questions you are asking Drew! How DO we break the cycle? It's amazing that you are spreading this message because some people do think that simply not wanting to repeat the same relationship would be enough. As a psychology student the insight I can share is: a lot of self reflection is needed! Reflecting what did your parents do that affected you badly and what did they do that affected you well and WHY this affected you this way. Then take a step back before every word and action towards your child and think "how would this affect my child?" and "is this what I want to show my child?". It goes a lot deeper than that but that would be a first step I would suggest for anyone needing a place to start🫶🏻

I think this is a fear all of our parents have. “I don’t want to repeat xyz” I feel like I did not like what my mother or father did… I will do it this way or that way. When you have the first one you have to jump into action and just do what feels right in the moments

As a mother now, I never wanted my kids to go through what I went through, my mi is older now so she tries to repeat the cycle and I had to stop her. I have good relationships with children cause I changed it! 🥰

I was so THANKFUL for my boys…Cause of my Mom Trauma, I feel I would continue the cycle if I did have a girl, My boys saved me and I gave them the a better life than I ever had

hey Drew, I was just telling my GF the story of meeting you in NYC back in the 90s... myself & my twin brothers ran into walking down the street... you actually signed the brown paperbag that I had a beer in..
