@sadarish: The Jonnee apple is an early-ripening sport (limb mutation) of the classic Jonathan apple variety. Type: An early strain of the heirloom Jonathan apple (Malus domestica). Origin: Discovered as a natural mutation in an orchard near Caldwell, Idaho, in 1967. Appearance: Features a bright, attractive solid or striped red blush over its skin that colors up earlier than standard Jonathan trees. Flavor & Texture: Offers the same sharp, tangy-sweet balance, sprightly flavor, and crisp, juicy white flesh as the traditional Jonathan parent. Harvest Season: Ripens earlier in the late summer to early fall (often mid-to-late August or early September, roughly 10 days to two weeks ahead of standard strains). Uses: Excellent for fresh snacking, baking in pies, cooking into applesauce, or pressing into cider due to its rich, old-fashioned "apple punch" flavor.
