@dryfterhomes: I’m not saying roll over, but given the risks maybe find a middle ground? @justagirlwholikestolaugh #airbnb #airbnbhost #dryfter #dryfterhomes
She moved the bridge so it’s entirely on her property, she wants to know if she should allow them access. I said no, tell them they burned a bridge with you and need to build their own bridge now!

If I’m spending that type of money, i’m going to go the extra mile to make sure they never use it again

I would 100% make it a gated bridge. If is on my property and part of my driveway then they can build their own bridge.

If your land is inaccessible, except by going on a neighbors property, those easements are typically automatically done by necessity as a point of public policy. She should be checking with her county.

My petty arse would’ve cancelled the work and said ok tuff, neither of us will be able to use it😅 they were banking on the woman needing it for her rental.

before hiring someone, should've hired a lawyer to write up a contract stating they'd split the cost and that if one refused to pay then one could sue the other or something.

I would legit add a locked gate at the end with a combo and give it to the guests and make sure they know they need to lock it. Tell the neighbors they are no longer allowed to use it and build their own. 💖

I would say to the neighbor that if I’m gonna be paying the full thing, I’m going to reroute it where it doesn’t exit on your driveway and you are not allowed to use it but if you want to you can, but you’re either gonna have to pay a monthly usage fee or we can split it and we can keep it how it is where it goes onto your driveway

I would immediately reconfigure the bridge to exit only onto my driveway. Put up a wall and call it a day, enjoy paying for your own bridge

We stayed at a place on Lake Michigan. There was a little bridge to get to the beach. Basically just a wood plank. The neighbors kept picking it up and taking it with them. Without it we couldn't get from the house to the beach.

You can’t find middle ground d with people who blackmail you, then block you, which is what the neighbor did. I’d put up a gate and tell them to kick rocks.

id pay some extra and put a padlocked gate on the bridge. good luck to the neighbor dealing with that.

That’s a pretty crappy deal. Luckily the cost of the repairs is a tax write off!! But there should be some legal protection for her by keeping the neighbors from harassing the guests.

I understand what you’re saying, but the petty in me would put up a gate or fence to block them permanently. I’d rather sell the place than let them set foot on my bridge. 🤣

Honestly she should have replaced the bridge and sold the property immediately. Horrible neighbors can ruin your life. Just find a different rental property

I would have a lock only my renters can access - bridge and where it comes out is now on property and they paid nothing toward it . If he wants access he has to pay half the amount

If the neighbors need to access their property, then you could just cancel the project and they won’t be able to get in and out. They would probably cave sooner than someone who is just renting out the property as a vacation home.

But the question remains, is there an easement already? And they're hoping that these folks don't know about it or forgetting about it. Cause it seems to me like that would be the case. Also, how does everyone get In-N-Out? If this bridge is gone.
There's a lot of things that need to be looked into

Depending on the state, a judge will force them to give her an easement. I gave my neighbors an easement across my land because they are nice folks, but I asked a lawyer friend what would happen if I didn't. He said a judge would probably force an easement because they don't like properties to be landlocked.
