I actually dont hate the ending. I just hated how they scraped a lot of the character development from previous projects. I get that show canon wasn't included in the movies, but the way they portrayed the twins as dumb, Hiccup almost jealous of the light fury, I hated that. But the ending on its own really isn't as terrible as some people make it out to be. Does it make the most sense? No, but it reflects our world and gives the trilogy something to stop at instead of dragging it to death.

Hot take but the ending was as realistic and genuine as it could be. Them living together forever is just too cliche and unrealistic it has more meaning this way. They knew what they needed and to love was to let go

the whole point was dragons and humans coexisting and being at peace. the directors and script writers completely lost the point of the entire movie. and don’t even get me STARTED on how they treated hiccup after toothless left . he was fighting to prove that he isn’t just a dragon master but he’s also a viking who deserves respect . hell they even made fun of STOICK.
