First reason makes no sense as James himself and many anti mergers banked on the argument that it wouldn’t confuse general audiences like that was literally the main argument when two Batman’s were confirmed for live action

Hot take: Batman needs to go back to being campy and goofy. We’ve literally run “dark and gritty” into the freakin ground. First everyone was chasing Burton, then Nolan. That’s literally 2+ decades of brooding and dark. Enough. That’s not all who Batman is. He’s a 1%er that dresses up as a flying mammal for Christ sake. Give me a Batman that doesn’t take himself all that seriously. I know we all have ptsd and generational trauma from what Schumacher did, but campy Batman can still be done right. Exhibit A:
