@shakingsheets: How is the thing that's meant to be liberatory usually encouraging antisocial behaviors and insulating self centeredness as righteous? #fypシ #politics #leftist #BlackTikTok
This is so real. But I think most ppl want a community, but don’t necessarily want to be a good member of said community. I mean we can just look at how’s many ppl are still masking.

You know, I think a big part of the issue is how there are many different kinds of etiquette rules being contested and they're all being flattened into one conversation. Conversations like [fake examples to avoid envoking specific discourses] "don't punch random people on the street" are being treated as equivalent to "if you don't call your boss 'high lord fancy pants,' you should be fired."

God, you never miss! It really comes down to the fact that, actually, you really CANNOT do whatever you want with no consequences or even no pushback. The collective needs you to be part of the unit!

I’ve definitely been that annoying young person thinking I was being rebellious when I was actually just self serving and caused consequences. I experienced some rude awakenings as I started to transition into actual organizing spaces and I have relearn this lesson every now and then. I’ve also seen this in others.

This is essentially the same argument as not tipping your waiter because you believe their employer should pay them a living wage, as if the waiter has any control over that.. it’s really just an excuse to be selfish and obtuse

People are so scared of sacrificing comforts, not understanding that we are where we are today because people sacrificed their comforts so we could get THIS far (even if it ain’t much, depending on who you are). I hate that so many people are so rigid with this- comfortability for all shouldn’t be so hard to meet in the middle with. What has happened to us 😭

The arguments about tipping is the one that grinds my gears. Yes, the tipping system is effed up and servers should be compensated properly by their employers. Until that changes, I’m still going to tip because the person that affects the most is a server, not the restaurant owner

"how they perceive their imagined Utopia, if they have one in mind"
I think admist the conversations being had is a potential truth. I don't think many people (especially young people) actually do have an imagined future in mind. Even to me, it feels like present is bleak and so will be the future. The only reason to fight against it is to prevent a worse future from happening but a better one? I don't think I've sat and really believed in it. That's probably something I need to fix (with less screen time. Lol)

Took me some time to realize most ppl aren’t “woke” and “progressive”, they’re just self-serving. Some of these revolutionary movements serve them, so they want the benefits, not the actual ideology (ex: seeing women say having smeggs with men shouldn’t emasculate men, whilst claiming bi men having sex with men is emasculating. Seeing men say they want to go to 50/50, whilst claiming women shouldn’t make as much money as men). Neither of these ppl are feminists, in fact it’s very likely both of them want a traditional heterosexual patriarchal dynamic where the man is the breadwinner and the woman is the trophy wife (“he pays all my bills”, “I just sit and look pretty”). But they both want the parts of feminism that benefit them.
