We bought a Rainbow vacuum several years ago. With our golden retriever-his shedding was out of control. I went through 3 other normal vacuum cleaners that just couldn’t handle the god hair—constantly stuck, I sat in the floor more with scissors removing the hair from the rollers of the vacuum. He’s 15 years old, and we just had to help him cross the rainbow bridge. Sad time for our family 😢 Now 3 months later, I’m stunned about the reduction of fur. We may actually get it up and out of all the hidden places soon. All I have is a cat now, so I’m pretty pumped I can get the carpets and floors as clean as I had them when my kids were babies.

The trick is to clean with plain water a couple of times after cleaning with the soap. The soap attracts the dirt, so you have to clean more often.

I’ve got no carpets in my house. I have a few rugs. But I HATE carpets and rugs.

I have gotten all machine washable carpets well area, rugs even the large ones that don’t fit into regular washing machines you can put in one of those commercial washing machines when it needs washing that way you don’t have to worry about carpet cleaning all the time much easier

If you can remove them, take them outside and power wash them! Or take them to the car wash and clean them there. I’ve done that and it makes a world of difference.

I watched a guy who does professional carpet cleaning and he said to put your diluted cleaner in a spray bottle, spray the carpet so it has time to work, then just use plain water in the carpet cleaner. He showed how much residue from carpet cleaners he pulled up and said that cleaner on your carpet is just attracting dirt. I spot clean my area rug as needed and then only do a full clean rarely. I do my loft carpet more often because kids but we don’t wear shoes upstairs where the carpet is so I probably don’t shampoo bedrooms more than once a year and loft maybe a few times. I have a crosswave (I think that’s the name) that I use for spot cleaning in between big cleans.

I bought area rugs that can go in the washer and rent a carpet cleaner from the local store for carpets for like $60.

I was a professional carpet cleaner for years. Carpet is nasty. I know it can be nice to have, but you can never get down through the mat. For rugs with kids and dogs, every 3 months with daily vacuuming.

But helping my daughter move from her apartment last fall, RENT from Lowe’s, Home Depot, etc!! That thing was a BEAST (she has two cats) and was pretty cheap considering.
