@monicaumunna: We’re very aware of the mental load we carry because we’re the ones carrying it, thinking about it, talking about it, and often telling our husbands about it… What we may not realize is that our husbands can be carrying a significant mental load too, we just may not hear about it in the same way!! Your husband may not call you every time he’s stressed. He may not tell you every worry he’s carrying. He may not come home and list everything that’s weighing on him. He may just keep going, because that’s often what men do… what’s expected of them. Butttttt, that doesn’t mean it isn’t heavy, or hard, or exhausting or overwhelming. His ability to carry things quietly is a strength, but it can also make his burdens easy to overlook. Pay attention to the quiet things. Ask questions. Notice when his tone changes or he gets quieter than usual. Appreciate what he carries, even when he doesn’t ask you to. You don’t have to take his load away from him… you just shouldn’t forget that he has one too!! 🔥🫶🏼🙏🏼🙌🏼

Additional note: if we show or complain too much we’ll be seen as weak. Then women will start to resent us. So it’s a double-bind

I work in a public service role where I am co fronted with the horrors of the world on a daily basis. I’m not putting that on my Wife, she doesn’t need that!

Because everyone in an overwhelming emotional state feels uniquely isolated and burdened, even small stressors can suddenly appear monumental. Since women naturally experience life through a heightened emotional lens, minor frustrations often loom large to them, making it easy to feel as though no one else truly understands their pain.

And just because we’re quiet about it doesn’t mean it doesn’t affect us. The last thing we want is to burden yall with our things

No woman can even conceptualize my mental load, let alone carry it. Her shoulders would break if i layed it on her.
