Key History and Service * Construction: Built by Blohm & Voss in Hamburg, Germany; laid down on November 25, 1942, and commissioned on September 16, 1943. * Patrols: Conducted nine operational patrols in the Arctic Sea against Allied convoys and escorts. * Post-War: Surrendered in Norway in May 1945, later serving in the Royal Norwegian Navy as Kaura from 1952 to 1965. * Museum Ship: Returned to Germany and established as a technical museum at the Laboe Naval Memorial near Kiel in 1972. It is the last remaining Type VII U-boat in the world.
