If you search “site:WEBSITEURL keyword”, you can see a website's closest optimized page for the keyword that you add. GoPro's best page for the keyword action camera only has it in the page title. It's not in the URL slug. The URL slug just says cameras. It's not in the H1, a critical place to put the keyword. GoPro created this category, but they don't show on page one of Google for the keyword “action camera”. Their competitors show. Most companies get the fundamentals wrong. Take your target keyword, put it in the page title, URL slug, H1, beginning of the first sentence. You don't even have to put it in other places on your page. Answer the searcher's intent above the fold before people start scrolling. Build a handful of backlinks to your website. Most companies don't even know to do these fundamentals, but the fundamentals will take you very, very far.
