In 2015, Nicholas went to the Blanchard home. Dee Dee was killed while Gypsy was present in the house. Afterward, Gypsy and Nicholas left the area and traveled to Missouri. They were eventually found by authorities after messages they had posted online helped investigators locate them. The truth about Gypsy’s life quickly became public. People discovered that many of the illnesses Dee Dee had claimed Gypsy suffered from were not real. They also learned about the years of control and medical abuse Gypsy had experienced. Gypsy pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in connection with her mother’s death. She was sentenced to ten years in prison.
