That definitely exceeds the towing capacity of that car. If you look in the car's owner's manual or the sticker in the car's door jam it will list the towing capacity. The state patrol in my state would write him thousands in fines.

If your guys are gonna sit there and argue with him, why did you let him load it in the first place. I am a CDL holder and truck owner so I get it. But they never should have allowed him to load it. It's a rental right? You could have refused to rent it.

The trailer has its own 4 electric drum brakes. Wouldn’t matter what’s pulling it as long as the trailer brakes are in top condition.
