@huck_app: The most popular story traces them to Lucky Baldwin, the 1880s land baron who imported peafowl from India for his estate, now the LA County Arboretum. A century and a half later their descendants own Arcadia. They strut through backyards and driveways, roost on rooftops, block traffic, and scream at dawn. Some neighborhoods adore them. Others have tried to have them removed. And a separate flock lives among the graves at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, wandering the headstones next to the movie stars. Every pin is a real sighting, 2,884 of them around LA. Swipe through, then see what is living near you. Photos via iNaturalist: Brooke J. APC :
They’re so Beautiful, not their calls, it’s scary because it closely resembles a human cry for help, a piercing shriek, or a wailing person in distress…Imagine that sound in the middle of the night … even in the day sounds scary .

There’s some in Wilmington that have been there for decades since I was a kid. Just south of banning park in the only 2-3 nice blocks Wilmington has to offer 🤣

Mentioning Whittier again, I used to see them at the top of Turnbull Canyon, which is attached to a cemetery which I saw somebody else comment about so they might like cemeteries and I know that cemetery on the other side is huge where ice tea is
