@okpeacetherapist: The only analogy I really need when I talk to clients about body autonomy is pie. As a trauma therapist that has been working with survivors of abuse and trauma for over a decade this one is gold. If I make a pie, it’s my pie. I can share it with you because I want to. I can give you a slice, keep the rest for myself, or decide I don’t want to share today. And just because I gave you a slice yesterday doesn’t mean you’re entitled to a slice today. You also don’t get to tell me I need to make you a pie every day. That would be f*cking wild. But somehow, when we replace “pie” with intimacy, affection, s*x, touch, or access to our bodies, people start believing the rules are different. They aren’t. You have body autonomy in your relationships, too. You can choose intimacy. You can change your mind. You can say yes one day and no the next. You can want connection without wanting s*x. You can be married, dating, religious, not religious, deeply in love, or in a long-term relationship and your body is still yours. Healthy intimacy is something we share because we want to connect, not something another person becomes entitled to because of a relationship status. #therapytiktok #adhdtiktok #therapistsoftiktok #relationshiptips

Erica Twiss :
How does this analogy work for rescinding consent? I gave you a piece of pie but im taking it back?
