@industryofcooltv: One of the most striking moments in The Passion of the Christ 2004 is Barabbas’s first encounter with Jesus. Pietro Sarubbi, who played Barabbas, said Mel Gibson instructed him not to look at Jim Caviezel until the moment their characters encountered each other. Sarubbi had originally wanted to play Peter, but Gibson cast him as Barabbas and told him the character would communicate through his eyes rather than dialogue. When Sarubbi finally looked at Caviezel, he described the experience as profoundly affecting and later said that his experience on the set led to his conversion to Christianity.
