Unfortunately, taking out the fact that he’d been into her since the first time he saw her really did it for me 😭 I could’ve looked past everything else because I did like the movie, but that was my favorite part of the book. Not having it in the movie was so disappointing.

It’s not about the fact that it doesn’t contain every single thing in the book. It’s about how movie Adam is NOT Adam. They changed the character, he didn’t yearn for her after having a crush since he saw her for the first time?. He ignored her texts and calls because he “wanted to protect her and he didn’t know how to handle it? He’s a grown man in his 30s and Adam would never ignore Olive. They also didn’t show any of the tiny moments that led to their romantic chemistry and that’s why every intimate escene felt awkward and not romantic at all. They treated the whole movie more like a comedy, making him a joke and not showing how reserved and caring he was. It was not about romance, and that wasn’t Adam

As someone who hasn’t read the book, it was perfectly clear and heavily implied for me that this guy has been keeping tabs and observing her since that moment, and that their first interaction in the bathroom marked him! It translated like he had a crush beforehand for me, honestly! But I can understand the need for someone who read the book to want that to be more explicit! It’s wasn’t missing for me though, and I loved the movie!

movie need to be longer also hate how they erased adam as a character he was just a love interest. also i absolutely hate how they didnt show him yearning for her for 3 years before the kiss. ughhh idk it’s prob good if you didn’t read the book if not you’re gonna be disappointed
