@thef.bomb.mom: 38. Damn. 🥹 If you would’ve shown me this version of my life a few years ago, I’m not sure I would’ve believed you. Not because it’s perfect. But because it’s quiet in all the places my life used to be loud. Getting here cost me some things. Some people, too. I had to learn that sharing DNA doesn’t automatically mean sharing a place in someone’s life. That you can love people and still realize you function better without access to each other. That sometimes there isn’t a big apology, a beautiful reconciliation, or an ending that makes everything make sense. Sometimes you just keep living. And eventually you notice you’re not waiting anymore. That might be the biggest difference in me at 38. I’m not waiting for anyone to become who I needed them to be. I have a husband who stands beside me, kids who know without question that their mom is in their corner, and a home filled with the kind of love I used to wonder if I’d ever have. Somewhere in raising them, I ended up raising parts of myself too. And THAT is breaking a cycle. Not talking about it forever. Not proving who hurt you. Just quietly building something completely different. So this picture feels pretty damn accurate. Shoes off. Arms open. Not looking behind me. 38 isn’t me starting over. It’s me finally getting to live in everything I fought so hard to build. 🤍
