August 12, 2026 3:06 pm - weapons complaint in the 16800 block of SE Newport Way, RP advising their neighbor just discharged his weapon The air was closed while officers determined what was happening 3:19 pm - another neighbor confirmed hearing gunshots, believed it to be a couple of juveniles on e-bikes headed eastbound on Newport 3:34 pm - a passerby that owns a rental unit there shared with an officer that juveniles set off some M80s inside his home Then an officer with a drone in operation says a man with a long black rifle in front of a brown house shot down the drone Everything escalated in that moment, Newport Way had a road closure, King County Metro was advised, another drone was requested as well as SWAT Bearcat 3:36 pm - another drone enroute Police made verbal contact with two, the male that had the rifle was described as a middle aged white male with dark hair Then an older white male in a black shirt came out down the driveway and a second subject was inside the house, he ran back inside, but then was on the back porch on a phone 3:39 pm - call from a resident came into 911 reporting someone was in the driveway pretending to be police, he was advised these are the real police There was a son, wife and two kids still in the home, the older male that came out said they shot the drone down with a BB gun 3:45 pm - Bearcat on i90, on the way 3:49 pm - police surrounded home and kept an eye on the property 3:50 pm - the second male was coming out with his hands up 3:52 pm - female and two kids coming out, kids are 7 and 8 years old Another drone on scene and up Chatter about how now that this family has come out they were making a plan to clear the abandoned house next to them 3:57 pm - they began clearing the grey abandoned house Chatter about fresh motorcycle tracks in the driveway 3:58 pm - backside of house has broken windows 4:02 pm - vacant house cleared, mention of marks on the front door that are potentially caused by fireworks 4:03 pm - air reopened, one lane of Newport Way reopened, traffic control requested 4:17 pm - confirmed the drone was shot down with a pellet gun that looks like a rifle, police took back their drone and took photos of the BB gun 4:27 pm - officers started clearing out and traffic reopened The man who shot down the drown was not held responsible for anything criminal. The juveniles were not located from what was shared on the scanner. #BellevueWA
