As an introvert it's really hard for me to make friends. In 2016 I met my best one. My person. I thought we'd have so much time together. I was wrong. She died from breast cancer at just 58 years old. I grieved not only her death, but all the future memories and conversations we won't get to have. The things I would've told only her that I now have to write in a journal instead. For a few months I completely shut down. I asked God why he would take away my best friend when he knows how much she meant to me? I got really angry at how unfair life can be sometimes. But if I could sit beside that version of myself now I would tell her: 1️⃣ it's ok to feel angry, hurt and alone. 2️⃣ take it one day, one hour, one min at a time. 3️⃣ life still has good days. don't waste them. Ten years after meeting her and losing her, I wouldn't change a thing. As much as it hurts to lose someone you love, you wouldn't give up the time with them just to avoid the pain. If you're going through a hard season, it's ok to not be ok sometimes. Just take it one step at a time, no matter how small. Because I believe the greatest gift we can give our loved ones who've moved on, and ourselves, is a live fully lived.
