@mothershipsg: The 66-year-old man was led to download a mobile application and change the settings on his phone thinking it was for a fitness class, which his wife signed him up for. She had come across a video advert on Facebook about the classes and sent in his phone number. He later received a message purportedly from DBS' fraud department notifying him about a suspicious transaction involving S$50,000. As he and his family were verifying the message with DBS via a phone call, his phone was accessed and locked remotely. A green dot could also be seen on his phone screen, indicating that its camera and microphone were being accessed. The family visited a DBS branch to secure her dad’s account, and found out that no money was taken out from the man's account. His SIM card has since been replaced, and the phone has been wiped. “I wanted to also share what happened to raise awareness to other people… This is real and happened so fast - within a day,” the man's daughter told Mothership. #mothershipnews

this is the ads that appear in facebook. when u click "lesrn more" someone wilk call you. she will ask you to go to your phone settings and review ypur security and privacy in the pretext to download their AQUA apps. After doing so- the so-called dbs fraud dept locked the phone
