parrots absolutely copy what they hear. from movies, video games, TV shows, pervious owners, neighbors, live streams, radio, all different sources, not just the current owner and their family. some are even smart enough to learn and understand what the words mean and form sentences.

I had a parrot for a while. my dogs taught it to bark. my neighbors thought we had a dog in the house when the other dogs are outside. I finally had to bring Fred out to show my neighbors that it was my parrot. that was his name. fred. I miss him.
