What is real: 4DX theaters (created by CJ 4DPLEX) and related "4D/5D" experiences do exist and do use motion seats, wind, water spray/mist, fog, scents, heat, and air bursts synced to the film. Japan has advanced 4DX/MX4D venues, and in the US, 4DX is at places like Regal, AMC, Cineworld, and Harkins (e.g., the largest 4DX auditorium in NYC). However, these use controlled sprays and mist, not an actual wall of water crashing into the room — so the dramatic "wave soaking everyone" footage you saw on TikTok is fake/AI, even though the underlying effect types (water, wind, motion) are real.
