Fun fact: you can visit the wall of lava lamps. They don’t care if you stand between the lava lamps and the camera because your body and movement increase the randomness.

If you really think about it, nothing is actually random, not even lava lamps. Everything is predictable, as long as you have enough information.

Decades ago there was a guy who figured out the Montreal Casino turned their Keno machine on at the same time every day. He knew what chip it was using and he could then compute which random numbers it would generate at which time. He took those numbers to the casino, bet them, and hit like two jackpots in a row and tried to walk out of the casino with hundreds of thousands of dollars. He was immediately stopped and investigated but eventually given the money because he wasn't technically cheating. The casino learned to never shut down their Keno machine after that

Also worth noting: in the last decade, the motion of lava lamps was formally studied, and though the researchers said they could get close, the natural variability of each individual lamp (viscosity etc,) means there is still no true, accurate simulation for them
