Tymless :
And Scripture does command submission but notice what comes first:
“Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.”
Ephesians 5:21
Then husbands are commanded:
“Love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it.”
Ephesians 5:25
That is not a licence for superiority. It is a command to sacrifice, serve and love.
Even 1 Corinthians 7:4 makes marital authority reciprocal:
“The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.”
So why preach the woman's obligation while ignoring the man's?
Why teach submission without teaching responsibility?
Entitlement can make people preach superiority instead of respect for the man and love for the woman.
A woman helping her husband when he is down does not make him less of a man and a man supporting his wife when she is weak does not make him less of a man either.
We need to emancipate ourselves from mental slavery, not from God's Word, but from interpretations that turn God's Word into a tool for controlling people.
The pulpit should produce healthier homes, not silent suffering.
It should teach men that leadership carries responsibility and women that submission does not mean surrendering their humanity.
We have seen too many painful stories of people suffering silently behind the walls of homes while being told to “submit” and endure.
We must be careful.
The Bible should never be used to silence someone who needs help.
Marriage should have roles. It should have leadership. It should have submission.
But it should also have love, honour, sacrifice, mutual respect and accountability.
The pulpit should preach liberation, not suppression; responsibility, not entitlement; love, not mandatory slavery.
Because a marriage is not about one person owning another.,It is about two people learning to carry one and both ultimately accountable to God.
