I feel like i stick out like a sore thumb in my hatred of brutalism as someone who loves avant garde fashion. Most of these brutalist examples are high-end architectural buildings made for rich people. The average brutalist building project is corner-cut and run down to the utmost while used to stuff society’s poorest and most vulnerable into it. It’s always felt oppressive to me. I wish I could like it.

To me, brutalism signifies structural, devastating beauty using traditionally mundane elements. Exaggeration over adornment. Cold restraint bringing decadent warmth. Kinda makes sense that avant garde folx (incl myself) are drawn to it 🖤
