I think you need proper evidence to say you are in catchment and normally need more than just saying you have an offer in a house.

My mum worked in education for over 30 years. She has made us promise that we’d never send our children to private school. The threshold to teach is actually much lower. My mum has gone to private schools where teachers haven’t even had the core teaching qualification. It’s ultimately up to you, but my vote is no.

As someone that went a private school from 4 through to 18, if you can afford to send your children to one, I would 100% choose that. I wish we could afford to send our boys to one!

Private school at the Primary school age range has a much less social and educational impact. Secondary school is really important in terms of how children process academically and what opportunities are available to them. I wouldn't waste your money, home school is always an option.

I always went private , I went to three different schools and I think when you find the right one it can be great . You get what you pay for especially in an academic sense x

As a teacher I would recommend that if you’re worried about quality of education then you should consider homeschooling. It’s a much better approach than the private school option (imo). Wishing you the best either way x

I’ve worked in private for many many years, the only thing I’d say is it’s very hard to move them back to state if you are considering an independent school temporarily.

I went to a private school, if I ever had children, I wouldn’t put them through it. It was horrendous and I was miserable. The small class sizes were beneficial but the way they push you/ only care about if you apply to oxbridge etc etc was awful

the earlier you apply to school the better chance you have of getting a place your 1st choice. You can apply to school out your catchment area as along as it is feasible for you to be able to get her there 💜

My daughter went to a private school not because we were posh because we scraped every penny to keep her there. i found the smaller class sizes, not being controlled by government in majority Honestly, I was skint!!! but it was the right thing for my daughter
