Dolphins do it. They just take a dive and don’t come back up. Every breath they take is a choice

Who cares?! 🤣 :
to say this doesn't happen with animals in the wild is a far reach because you don't know what the hell an animal is thinking

we are very social creatures, more social than most mammals. su*cide must be related to intense isolation from the collective

other animals do this too, they will just leave their group and face circumstances where they know they'll die

Actually some animals exhibit self-injurious behavior, particularly under captivity or severe environmental stress. And some dogs stop eating after death of a human companion or another animal. Humans have several cognitive abilities that make suicide possible as a distinct phenomenon: imagining the future, reasoning about consequences, understanding that death is permanent, and representing oneself as a person who will eventually cease to exist. It’s truly fascinating if humans become the first animal capable of understanding not only “I will die,” but “I can make myself die.

orcas and dolphins commit suicide. They are highly intelligent in every way and are very social creatures. Being kept in captivity on their own or really at all, they will suffer depression just like us

don't forget the Romans, suicide was a path of honour, similar to sepoku in Japan, but at the beginning of civilization must have been mad

there's a kind of bird that ends itself If caught and held in a cage. impales itself with its own talons.
Maybe it's been tagged as accidental by science or is considered an urban myth, but the fact that the stories exist, it must've happened enough times...

i think its just a dimensional development. Animals do regularly passively end their own lives by starting to neglect them selves, or just sopping to run away from danger etc. Humans just developed more active measures because life got way safer since we developed more and more social safety systems and Group Constructs.

Isn't it considered suicide when animals that mate for life lose their mates stop eating and die?
