He reminded the world that 46 developing nations now spend more on interest than on classrooms and hospitals. "The hospital competes with a creditor." But he didn't come to beg. "Africa does not come to plead. We come with a proposal." - minerals, green energy, youth, and Kenya's $16B Lamu Refinery project. This is how a President speaks for a continent. If Ruto is right that the UN and global financial system was "built for another age," what is stopping Africa from building its own permanent united front to demand reform? Are we drivers of this reform, or will we remain passengers complaining? What must WE as South Sudanese learn from this speech? Kenya comes to UNGA with a proposal for shared prosperity, not a plea for aid. When will we stop exporting our problems and start exporting a proposal? When will we speak with one voice for peace and self-financing, instead of letting our conflicts be "frozen, deferred or decided by force"? Not a United Nations of some nations.
