@meandmygirls_mm: Replying to @Nadia it’s so easy to look back now, with the strength I now have, and wish I had reacted differently. But I was a different person back then, I was made very small indeed and then left at my most vulnerable, I wasn’t getting anything out of it I just wanted to live in peace #singlemum #singlemumlife #mystory #mylife #storytime
How is it now with your former in laws? Did they keep in touch with you and your family? Xx

I completely understand why you stayed for as long as you did. You had so much to consider, especially with the children and the life you had built together. I don’t think anyone on the outside can truly understand how complicated that decision must have been. You were probably just trying to do what you thought was best for yourself and your children at the time.

I kept thinking that his cruelty was not sustainable and that he’d rethink his behavior.

I made excuses. You cant replace a biological father...only one of those. I always had hope.

Speaking from experience which included physical violence, it’s a situation that u slowly drift into over years. Maybe believing and wishing for a change to come. I never discussed what happened behind closed doors, until long after I escaped.

Is any part of you thankful that he ended the relationship? Him making the executive decision to end the relationship has allowed you to have something better now

The economy makes it almost impossible for only one working person in a family. Life is not made for part time or stay at home parents anymore. It had made life so hard to navigate when in situations like this.

You explain this so well in terms of being trapped financially and knowing you want out but dont know how to get there, my experience was the same almost accepting this is life so trying to justify and accept this in your head and navigate life arlund his strange and narcassistic behaviours. I could imagine and pray for a life without him but had no means to get out. When he did leave my youngest was 14 months old, he still made me feel like I couldnt live without him but when I got financial stability and a support network around me he lost control of the situation and hated that! he tried controlling the situation by witholding child support money and getting his brother to do his accounts to hide earnings but in the end I decided I no longer wanted his 20 quid a month child support, I could look after my children, in the end he showed no regard for his children by trying to manipulate the child maintenance service. My kids seen his true colours by themselves. These 'men' will end up very alone in the future, whilst we will always have our kids hearts Xx

These things creep up on you and you don’t realise how bad things are until there’s a big upsetting event.

Of coarse that makes perfect sense…it ends when it ends, it has to get to a point where you know you can’t continue , which is actually exactly what you did. You called him on it and actually thank goodness he was honest about the fact it was over for him….as devastating as that news was to you….you knew it really because you asked the question. Thank goodness you did get out, it’s very sad it didn’t work but that was on him and you have made a wonderful life for you and your girls since him. Well done ♥️🥰
