@thrisvaquotes_: There comes a moment in life when you realize your parents are growing older, and somehow, without noticing, the roles have begun to change. The hands that once held yours now reach for yours for comfort. The person who once made you feel completely safe now looks at you with the same trust. Growing up is beautiful, but watching your parents age carries a kind of ache no one prepares you for. So call them, sit with them, listen to their stories again, and be patient with the little things. One day, you will realize those ordinary moments were never ordinary at all.

I lost my father about 3 months ago.He was 81 and I am 52. He was/is my hero. Earlier this year it broke me to lift him from the floor when he'd fallen, having to put diapers on him BUT after I'd cried and thought about it, who else would I want doing those things for him. Although heart breaking, it became the ultimate privilege and way for me to show how much I loved him. I keep seeing, 'he saw my first breath, I saw his last, he picked my first outfit, I picked his last'. As sad as it was, I would not have had it any other way. Love and miss you Dad.

The sad part is that you want to burst out crying but the barrier of the eyes dont allow that and the good part is the distraction of this world takes you with it otherwise even the barrier couldn’t stop them 🥺

My dad is 83 and slowly becoming a child. We look after him after mom passed away in January 2026. He lives with us. He has some accidents in the washroom but we clean it up without scolding him. We love him and we will look after him till the very end.

🥺😔 I live with both my parents, and every day I see them needing me a little more than they did before.
I often think about how they once lifted me to the stars when I was a child. Every need was met. Every fall, they were there to pick me up. Every fear, they helped me face. They spent their lives making sure I was okay.
Now, as they grow older, the roles slowly begin to change. And honestly, I’m grateful beyond words that I’m here to hold their hands through this chapter of their lives.
I pray to the heavens that I get to have them for many, many more years. 🙏🏾❤️I pray for their health, their peace, and their happiness.
Because they carried me when I was too small to walk.
Now it’s my turn to be there when they need someone to lean on.
As long as I’m here, they will never have to walk alone. ❤️🙏🏾

My dad was 51 when i was born. He had his first heart stroke when i was 16. That was the time were our roles changed. After that me or my brother brought him to the doctors. He lived until 2020 and died 87 years old. At least he witnessed my oldest child.

Lost my mom to cancer last November. That line talking about how they turned into the adult and once they realized it it was an indescribable feeling. That feeling is something I will never forget. My mom ended up on hospice and I was there for most of it. I gave her medicine I did all the things to make her comfortable cause I know she would have done the same for me. It sucks. It really does.

Wow this is how I feel at this very moment. My mom got mentally I'll a few month's ago and was diagnosed with Schizophrenia. I just turn 40 and now I see how the role has changed I now care for her full time. she comes to me with her fears, her bad dreams, she tells me daily that she is afraid of things. I look at her and just listen to her. and my eyes fills up. I now am her protector, her guidance, her hope, her strength and her ability to still be present and loved. All the things she was for me as a child my tears she would wipe away. now I do it. and tbh i wouldn't change it for anything. she was my pillar of strength now i hers. what a lovely gift to have received. I'm forever grateful to take care of her. as she did for me when I was small. 🤍🤍💚💚❤❤💜💜🙌

Seeing your parents growing old is a different kind of heart ache😭. It aches from a place Deep down in your core, a place of love. Someone that was once your whole world in a person now sees you in the same light. Knowing that one day they won't be here anymore breaks me.
